Some brands in the GIFQ catalog are tied to specific countries; others are redeemable worldwide. Knowing the difference — and how the catalog filters behave — keeps payouts from failing for recipients in the wrong region.
Where the country lives in the catalog
Country availability is a product-level property, not a brand-level one. Each product carries a list of ISO country codes. A brand's overall country coverage is derived from the countries of its products.
What "Worldwide (WW)" means
A worldwide product has an empty country list — it isn't tied to any specific country and can be redeemed globally. A country-specific product lists one or more countries and is constrained to them.
A brand whose products are all worldwide returns an empty country list in the catalog — that's the signal it's WW.
The behavior that confuses people
Filtering the catalog by country excludes worldwide products. A query filtered to, say, US returns only products that explicitly list US — WW products are intentionally left out of country-filtered views. Worldwide products appear only when no country filter is applied.
So if you build a brand picker that always filters by the recipient's country, your recipients will never see WW brands. To include them, either query without the country filter or merge a separate WW result set into the list.
When to use which
Pick country-specific brands when redemption is region-locked, when denomination ranges differ by region (for example Amazon US vs Amazon UK), or when you need to enforce a recipient's country.
Worldwide brands are a good fit for universally redeemable rewards — gaming vouchers, crypto vouchers, and multi-region brands.
Practical guidance
Currency still has to line up. For WW brands in a payout campaign, the recipient's currency must match a currency available among the campaign's selected brands, or redemption fails. (See currency mix and cross-currency redemption.)
Don't rely on a literal "WW" code. In the GIFQ catalog, the only worldwide marker is an empty country list — treat that as the source of truth.
Mixed campaigns: if you send to both specific countries and "anywhere" recipients, include both country-specific and WW brands, and make sure your catalog query surfaces both.
